This past Sunday I, along with many other amazing women, completed the first ever round of the Eat Feel Live Love challenge. For more information about my challenge, read this post or check out the Eat Feel Live Love website.
Although this program was created by myself and my business partner, Shawn, and based off of the exact practices we implemented into our lives to heal and get to where we are today, it was the first time either of us completed the program as written. I thoroughly enjoyed each of the 28 days and a learnt a lot along the way.
What I Learnt From Completing The Eat Feel Live Love Challenge
Beginning my day with lemon water not only played a part in saving my digestion, but has also become an almost spiritual ritual for me in the mornings.
Beginning my day with lemon water was something I started years ago when I began studying at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and it was one of the best things I could have ever done for my digestion. Years ago, it wasn’t unusual for me to be constipated from anywhere between 2 – 4 weeks at a time. Yikes, I know. However, when I started drinking lemon water first thing in the morning, I began to see improvements in my digestion right away. Now, this is a daily ritual of mine and I look forward to it every morning. I do a little meditation, gratitude writing, and journaling during this time, as well, which really sets the tone for my day!
My digestion always improves when I actually focus on improving it.
As I mentioned above, digestion is something I have always struggled with; however, I am grateful to say that today my digestion is better than it ever has been in all of my years of life. But, it is always even better and more efficient when I focus on it and implement certain strategies (as the program had me do!) to help further support it. It’s easy to forget the little practices here and there, but the program helped me stay focused and be consistent with these things.
I feel so much better when I make sleep a priority.
Oh, sleep. I have never been a sleep-lover. I have never enjoyed sleeping in and could probably count the times I have slept-in in my entire life on one hand. I also love staying up late and watching movies until I pass out on the ouch. However, this program made me put sleep as one of the things at the top of my priority list and I learnt that when I prioritize my sleep I feel like a different person. Obviously, my energy levels are better, but my mood, appetite, and overall outlook is regulated and more positive. Sleep is key.
Implementing healthy life changes/practices is way more fun when you do it with a supportive, tight-knit community.
Throughout the 28 days of the program, I was able to work with a group of amazing women who joined in on the challenge with Shawn and I. We had a Facebook group and it was really amazing going through the program and each one of the challenges that the program presented while a group of women were doing it along side you! I looked forward to interacting with these women every single day and it made the 28 days absolutely fly by!
Watching myself on video every single morning is a mix of awkward, fun, and empowerment.
Every morning the new challenges or topics were presented to us via email in video format. The videos were Shawn and I explaining the challenge of the day or the daily educational topic (since knowledge is power, you know!). It was awkward because… who ever likes seeing or hearing themselves on camera? It was fun because… it brought back memories of when Shawn and I recorded the videos – that was easily one of the best days of my life. It was empowering because… it has always been my dream to help people. I remember being in grade 6 and my teacher asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said “I don’t know, but I know I want to help people.” Seeing myself on video every morning confirmed that I am living my little grade-sixer dream and it feels amazing!
