Egg-Free Breakfast Round-Up

I grew up being called the egg monster. There once was a morning where I ate 8 eggs in one sitting! Not much has changed since then, I could still eat 8 eggs in one sitting and often eat them for breakfast, every single day.

However, for the past month I have been taking a break from eggs. I have been completely egg-free for an entire month after getting my results from an MRT food sensitivity test back and finding out that I am “highly reactive” to egg.

MRT food sensitivity testing is the most accurate food sensitivity test available and it’s the type of test I use in my own practice and offer to my clients. MRT stands for Mediator Release Test and measures changes in the ratio of liquids to solids after whole blood exposure to an antigen. Accuracy of functional diagnostic testing is determined by the sensitivity and specificity of the test. A test should also be reliable, meaning it should be reproducible. The MRT is more than 90% reliable, 94.5% sensitive, and 91.7% specific, surpassing all other food sensitivity tests available.

Finding out that you are “highly reactive” to a food based off of your results from an MRT, does not mean you have to avoid that food forever. What it does mean is that you have to eliminate the offending food for a period of time and follow a gut healing protocol. This is what I am currently doing. For another two months, I will keep eggs out of my diet while focusing on healing my gut. Hopefully, after the two months are over, I will be able to successfully reintroduce eggs. If not, I know I have more gut healing to do.

I know I’m not the only one who is eating egg-free and I also know a lot of people who don’t like eating eggs every day, which is ideal because food rotation is key when preventing food sensitivities from occurring (FYI: it is usually the foods that we eat the most frequently that we are most sensitive to, hence why I am highly sensitive to eggs)

So, I have compiled this blog post for you and all of my other egg-free friends. Eggs for breakfast is such an easy option and a go to for many of us, but I hope this blog post provides you with inspiration and the resources you need – breakfast can be so much more than just eggs (and it definitely doesn’t have to be toast and cereal either!)
